Did you know that cans are infinitely recyclable no matter their colour, shape or size??
From the moment your can is placed clean, dry, and loose in
your recycling bin, it is already on its way to becoming another recycled metal
product.
Steel and aluminium cans are separated at our recycling facilities by magnetic currents. They are then baled and ready for further recycling. Each bale can weigh up to 1,000 KG and can contain up to 65,000 aluminium cans. The bales are then sent to facilities in Europe where they are shredded and remelted into huge aluminium blocks. These blocks are rolled into thin sheets and coils to create new cans!!
The whole process is incredibly quick – old drink cans become part of a new bike, car, coffee pot or even new cans within 60 days of being collected. And every drink can can be recycled over and over again, forever.
