LauraLynn Children's Hospice celebrate 10 years! 21/09/2021

Congratulations to our charity partner LauraLynn Children’s Hospice on celebrating 10 years since they opened their doors in Leopardstown, Dublin 18.

The LauraLynn Model of Care describes their supports within five pillars of children’s hospice care: Direct Care, Family Support, Symptom Management, End-of-Life Care, and Bereavement Support.

The history of the hospice has evolved over many years from its beginnings in 1923 as a convalescence home for children from the inner city to the opening in 2011 of LauraLynn House, a dedicated eight-bed children’s palliative care unit. This award-winning healthcare building and its everyday operations are funded by the generous support of donors.

Their aim is to enhance the quality of life for families, including addressing physical comfort, health, and well-being, as well as the emotional, social, and spiritual aspects of caring.  This holistic, family-centred approach to care enables children to be children instead of patients and gives parents a break from caring round the clock, so they can focus on being Mums and Dads.  All care is free to families however, 80% of operational costs must be fundraised each year.

We are proud of the support we have offered to this worthy charity over the past four years. With the help of our household customers, we are proud to say that we have donated over €100,000 to the LauraLynn Children’s Hospice. As an extra benefit to the charity, we manage their waste and recycling needs free of charge.
