Thorntons Recycling is in the process of rolling out a Brown (Organic Waste) bin to its customers in Meath and Kildare. This will help Ireland meet its targets for the diversion of organic material from landfill. Please contact our office on 1850 623 623 to find out when you will be receiving your brown bin and your new collection calendar.
It will become a legal requirement in 2009 for all waste companies to offer an organic (brown) bin service to domestic customers. When rolled out our service to our domestic customers will include :
- Fortnightly Black Bin Collection (Waste)
- Fortnightly Green Bin Collection (Recyclables)
- Fortnightly Brown Bin Collection (Organic/Food Waste) _certain areas
- No bin tag required
Not only is our service good for the environment it's good for your pocket!!!! - the more you recycle the less you pay.

Progress to Date - Recycling Rate Increases!!!!!!!!!!
From the table below you will see that Our Customers in Meath and Kildare significantly improved their recycling % (23% recycling rate in 2008 , 32% recycling rate in 2009 - increase of 39%) by increasing the amount of material put in their green bins and by using Thorntons new brown bin service. This will help with the EU and Government targets in diverting waste from landfill. Well Done and Thank you for your continued support!!!!!!!

Pay-By- Weight System
Under our pay-by-weight system you are only charged for the weight of material in your black(waste) and brown (organic) bin, there is no charge for the green bin. For every collection the bin is weighed and recorded and a statement of your weights sent to you every 6 months. At the end of each year your weights are reviewed and reconciled to ensure that you have been charged the appropriate fee.
