National Waste Collection Permit
Thorntons Recycling is authorised to collect waste through a National Waste Collection Permit WCP-DC-09-1190-01. This permit is issued by Dublin City Council and authorises Thorntons to collect various waste types nationwide. This new permitting system was introduced in March 2010. A copy of this Waste Permit is obtainable through the link below. Waste Facility Permits
Waste Permits are issued and regulated by Local Authorities and cover minor waste management activities that present less of a risk to the Environment and therefore do not need a Waste Licence. Thorntons Recycling has three waste permits:
- Thorntons operate a woodchipping facility at PDM Ltd., Oldmilltown, Kill, Co. Kildare. A permit was issued by Kildare County Council - Waste Permit Register Number 291/2007. The woodchipping facility at PDM can process approximately 35,000 tonnes of wood per year. PDM 297/2007
- Thorntons has an End of Life Vehicle (ELV) Recycling facility at Unit B1, Kylemore Park West, Dublin 10.The site is permitted by Dublin City Council under WFP-DC-009. There is a link to this permit below.The facility de-polluted and recycled approximately 1,814 cars in 2009. WFP-DC-09-0005
- A Confidential Shredding facility is operated by Thorntons at, Unit 6 S3B Henry Road, Park West Business Park, Dublin 12. A permit was issued by Dublin City Council - Waste Permit Register Number WP 98116. WP 98116
